Haus Of Gloi = Love

So I'm at home for the day before heading out for another 10 days of tour. I got to pick up my post, and was very excited to see that my second order from Haus Of Gloi had arrived!

My first order from Haus Of Gloi was for 'The Briar Path' Bubbling Scrub (from the Summer collection). Before this I was using a strawberry body scrub from boots but I hated that the smell was completely gone after about 10 minutes of leaving the shower.

This stuff is the complete opposite. It leaves a really subtle scent on your skin for hours! The website description of this product was:

"Sun drenched trail leading to a day dream of ripe berries and woods’ rose, rich forest loam, ozone, dark amber and cream. "
Honestly....I didn't really know what that meant. I am terrible with scents, I can only recognise really obnoxiously obvious ones. I sort of chose it on a whim.

To me though, this product is a strange hybrid of flowery and fruity. Sometimes I think it leans more one way than the other, and then the next day I will completely change my mind. It is really lovely though! I wish I had grabbed the Pumpkin Butter version before it got discontinued to be honest.

I ordered a mini version of the scrub which cost me $3.50 (which is about £2.10). A little goes a long way with this stuff and the mini tub has lasted me a long time. It is still about a third of the way full! I ordered this on the 10th of June and it was here a week later. Extremely fast overseas shipping!

Included with my order was a mini vial of 'White Raspberry' perfume oil. The websites description of this being:

"Tart Raspberry and a clean cream accord. "

I am not a perfume girl. In my whole life I have used about three (and one of those is the Boots natural collection vanilla body spray!) So I was really surprised with how much I liked this! It is really fruity, almost childish (as in, it reminds me of the smell of sweet shops!) I found myself using this everyday for two weeks, and then it was all gone (BOOOOOO!)

So, I decided to order a big version of it. Which came in my order that I picked up today :)

The bottle was $12 (about £7.25) which I think is actually fairly expensive considering the size of the bottle, and comparing it to my other perfume love in life, Paco Rabanne Black XS.

You get 5ml in the haus of gloi perfume vials for £7.25 (which works out at £1.45 per ml) or 50ml in the Paco Rabanne bottle for £35.50 (which works out at 71p per ml).

Obviously I can understand that Haus Of Gloi isn't a major company and doesn't have the same kind of budgets, and the scent it really very I can let that one slide :)

I do almost wish they did bigger bottles with spray tops just for ease of use. I find the bottle it comes in a little fiddly to use.

Also in my order was 'Honey Tree' bubbling scrub which is described as:

Quite rich! Right from the bee hive - honey amplified by seductive essence of resinous vanilla, darkened by a passing waft of mild rare wood smoke.

This description makes it sound way more sickly than it actually is. I love the smell of vanilla and I am a bit of a honey fan too so I thought I'd give this a shot seeing as I was already placing an order.

I haven't used this yet but my "in the pot" impression is a good one :) I can't smell any smoke in it, which is a good thing because I don't really like smokey scents. Just honey and vanilla, which is what I wanted.

This cost the same as the mini version of 'The Briar Path', $3.50 (about £2.10). I think that these mini versions are extremely good value. I would have ordered a full sized version of TBP had it not been discontinued.

With this order I got a free mini vial of 'Pumpkin Queen' perfume oil, from the Autumn collection.

The website description of this is:

Gentle hay pillows, pumpkin, ripe peaches dusted with clove and nutmeg, dried summer herbs, and lastly, a lovely crown of amber.

Unfortunately, this scent just isn't for me. It kind of smells like food. But not in a way that I would consider suitable for perfume.

I put this on and Lloyd referred to it as "Boyfriend Repellent." Which can't be a good thing.

I can imagine this might be nicer as a soap - where the scent isn't quite so concentrated, but as a perfume this is sort of horrible (sorry guys!)

And then comes the part when I was naughty......

I placed another order this morning.

Whilst I was away on tour I saw Britton post a round up of all of the Autumn collection scents, and there were two on there that I knew I had to try. I actually attempted to order them from my iPhone but couldn't get paypal to work properly.

Pixie Sorcerer
They look cute, but beware! Deceptive pomegranate candy floss, beneath that a spiteful blend of coffee co2, vetiver and myrrh. (Bubbling scrub, emulsifying scrub, pumpkin butter, perfume)
Ghost Puffs
Buttery popcorn and marshmallow goo orbs, presented on a wooden stick. (Perfume, pumpkin butter, whipped soap)

Pomegranate, candy floss, coffee!!! Popcorn and Marshmallow!!!! These are pretty much mixtures of all of my favourite things!
This time I ordered both of these scents as mini Pumpkin Butters (because Pixie Sorcerer wasn't available as a mini Bubbling Scrub and I figured I should try something new). They were $4.50 each (about £2.75) and I can't wait for them to get here!
Shipping to the UK varies depending on what you order. It was $3.46 (£2.10) for my first order (one mini bubbling scrub), $4.33 (£2.60) for my second order (one mini bubbling scrub and one perfume oil) and $6.07 (£3.66) for todays order (two mini pumpkin butters).

I would really recommend this company. I have loved nearly everything I have received from them (the only slight blip was Pumpkin Queen....which was free anyway so I don't mind :P).

Oh glitter why do you photograph so badly?

I went out for a meal with some lovely ladies this evening.

I stood in front of my mirror with the full intention of putting on a bit of foundation and some mascara.....

.....and then I saw my pot of MAC Fuchsia Reflects Glitter.

I love how it turned out but unfortunately my camera hated it.

There are tonnes of pictures just to try and capture how sparkly it really was...none of them really show it properly though :(

Here is a photo after I did my hair (just to sort of prove that I didn't leave it like it was in the first set of photos!)

The glitter looks SO patchy here. I promise it wasn't IRL.

This look was sort of a mixture of Sugarpills Poison Plum, MAC's Reflects Fuchsia Glitter and Illamasqua's Static Pigment.

I made a video!

Disclaimer: I am aware that I forgot to put make up on for this. I'm having a few "face breathing" days before tour because I know I'm pretty much going to be covered in make up for a month. So yeah, please excuse my face and major hair fade (I'm dying it tomorrow before we set off on Monday.)

Freelance Stuff and Final Exam

I have been doing my first few bits of freelance work over the last month or so, and I am really pleased with how it has been going :)

I recently finished my music performance degree, which involved doing a 25 minute 'Final Performance' Exam. There are a lot of very lovely vocalists in my class who asked me to paint their faces for their own exams, and I was happy to oblige :)

The inspiration for her look came from Beyonce's video for 'Why Don't You Love Me?'

None of the girls had lipstick/gloss on or false eyelashes. I personally can't wear either of these things on stage (because the lipstick/gloss gets all over my face and my hair gets caught in the lashes :( booo) so I sort of warned against them if they weren't already comfortable with wearing them.

Oddly enough, I barely wore any make up for my own final performance. The room was about a million degrees when I did mine and I knew I would come off looking like I had been punched in both eyes if I tried anything clever. It was on my birthday and I wanted to go straight out afterwards so I played it safe with a simple cat eye :)

If anyone is is a video of my final performance exam:
